American-Palestinian Adolescent Freed Following Nine Months in Israeli Detention

A Palestinian-American adolescent who spent a nine-month period in Israeli detention without charge gained freedom.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim had just turned 15 when he was arrested last February within the occupied West Bank, where he was visiting on holiday from Florida accused of stone-throwing toward Israeli settlers, which he previously denied.

The US state department expressed satisfaction with Mohammed's liberation.

Now sixteen years old, was taken to hospital upon gaining freedom, family members reported.

Family described him as visibly pale and thin, while battling health issues contracted in captivity.

Through an official statement, Mohammed's uncle spoke of the family's "tremendous relief".

The uncle, Zeyad Kadur said the family had been "enduring a dreadful, continuous nightmare" throughout the past nine months.

"Currently, we are focused on ensuring Mohammed receives the immediate medical attention he needs following exposure to harsh conditions and cruel circumstances for months."

The state department stated they would maintain to offer diplomatic assistance to the teenager's relatives.

A group of American legislators submitted a formal letter to diplomatic officials and President Donald Trump, urging greater action to release him.

Mr Ibrahim, a father-of-four who runs an ice cream business in Florida, previously said his son only confessed to throwing stones due to physical abuse.

The father hadn't visited or communicated with his son following the detention, learning information solely regarding the treatment via legal paperwork.

Mohammed was held without charge within Ofer penitentiary in the West Bank.

It is also home to adult prisoners, featuring prisoners sentenced regarding severe security violations and murder.

Approximately several hundred young Palestinian detainees detained within Israeli facilities, based on prison authority data.

Several lack formal charges and human rights groups, including UN bodies, document cases involving mistreatment and torture.

Following Mohammed's release, Mr Kadur said relatives would persist in advocating demanding accountability for their family member family member Sayfollah.

The dual national youth who the Palestinian health ministry said succumbed to assault by radical settlers amid clashes in July.

Initially, military authorities reported officials were investigating information regarding a civilian was deceased.

Both young men collaborated at their family's ice cream business based in Florida.
