A fundraising initiative is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign seeks to send support to Gaza's residents while also showcasing Palestinian culture and creativity.
Renowned figure Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He noted the potential for an unexpected chart success.
“It would be incredible if that came to pass, yes,” he commented. “I won't be completely disappointed if it doesn’t, festive releases are a category of their own.”
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the adaptation of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.
“The song holds a profound significance for countless listeners,” Barghouti said. “It’s basically saying that I would prefer a dignified death than spend my life without freedom. This is the primary message of the song; we seek to lead a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”
The single was laid down after a major charity concert held in late summer. Originally intended to be performed and recorded live, the performance was shelved during the concert due to scheduling overruns.
The notable list of musicians appearing on Lullaby features a selection of well-known figures from the music world. All took part in the earlier concert, which successfully generated a considerable total for relief efforts.
Lullaby was produced by a team of music creators. The song blends a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with contemporary English verses.
The team running the campaign have emphasized that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These donations will be distributed to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an non-profit partner.
“There is no a fixed goal,” a figure commented. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Naturally, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to Gaza.”
The situation in the region was characterized as its widespread damage, with a huge proportion of property said to be levelled or seriously harmed.
“Given that reality, a few million won't make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is primarily making this cause better known and demonstrating there’s another side to the story.”
The song is set to be released on Friday. Additionally, a video of the solidarity show will be made ready to watch on a digital service from mid-December.
