A review has identified that close to 90 aircraft journeys associated to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein are said to have landed at and took off from UK airfields, with some allegedly carrying British women who claim they were exploited by the convicted child sex offender.
The flight logs were part of thousands of court documents and files made public by the estate of Jeffrey Epstein that have been made public over the last year. The analysis uncovered 87 flights connected to Epstein â including many that were not previously known â landing or taking off from British airfields between the early 1990s and 2018.
Unnamed female passengers were recorded among the travelers entering and exiting the UK. Notably, 15 of these UK flights took place following Epsteinâs 2008 guilty verdict for procuring prostitution from a child.
âThis is âappallingâ that there had never been a âfull-scale UK investigationâ into his dealings in the country,â remarked American attorneys representing numerous Epstein victims.
Evidence from one of the British victims aided the conviction of Epsteinâs associate Ghislaine Maxwell of child sex-trafficking in the US in 2021. However, that survivor has never been contacted by British law enforcement, according to her attorney based in Florida.
In a response, the the Met indicated they had ânot been provided with any further information that would support reopening the probe.â They added, âShould fresh and pertinent information be brought to our attention, including any arising from the disclosure of documents in the US, we will assess it.â
Proposed legislation to release all files held by the US government in regarding Epstein was approved by the US Congress last month. The Department of Justice has until 19 December to adhere to this requirement. Hundreds of thousands of papers are anticipated to be made public.
Additionally, a US judge ordered last week that the DOJ could publicly release investigative materials from a sex-trafficking case against Maxwell, Epsteinâs longtime confidante, who is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence over the charges.
