Board Resignation

Former US treasury secretary Larry Summers is exiting the governing body at OpenAI, just a week after a batch of electronic messages between him and late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein became public.

Summers remarked in a release that he was "thankful for the opportunity to have contributed, optimistic about the promise of the organization, and look forward observing their progress".

Summers, who once headed the prestigious university, declared on recently that he would be withdrawing from public roles due to his association with Epstein.

The legislation will afterward proceed to the desk of President Trump for signature. He has indicated he expects to approve the legislation, after reversing his position on the matter following objections from his followers.

The messages revealed that the economist and Epstein often met for meals, with he often attempting to connect Summers to prominent international personalities.
