Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the league office.

The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. She stated the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, he concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
