The Miami Heat recorded 86 opening half scores versus the Memphis Grizzlies
Miami Heat earned a overwhelming 146-114 win against the Grizzlies in their initial NBA game since player Rozier was arrested over suspected illegal gambling.
Portland Trail Blazers head coach Billups was also arrested in connection with a sweeping FBI probe into sports betting. The two individuals deny the claims.
However, the Miami team were not distracted as they put up 86 first-half scores to be ahead of the Grizzlies by 39 at halftime, the largest half-time advantage in the franchise's 37 year existence.
Bam Adebayo led the way with 24 points and later stated Terry had the support of the team.
"We support him. Complete backing," Adebayo said. "We are with him all the way. That's our brother at the end of the day."
Miami head coach Spoelstra commented: "Terry is a person who is important to everyone. He has made a beneficial influence on our team.
"Our thoughts are with him and our care for him as he goes through the situation."
Portland also secured their initial match after the arrests, with Brazil-born Tiago Splitter taking over as interim coach in Chauncey's absence and guiding the team to a convincing 139-119 win over the Golden State Warriors.
"Everyone experienced positive times with Billups and his coaching style," Tiago said. "We're thinking of him and his family but our focus is on the game."
Speaking about the arrests for the initial occasion, NBA commissioner Silver said he was "very upset" by the incidents of the recent days.
"There's nothing more important to the league and its fans than the fairness of the game," he told a broadcaster. "And so I had a pit in my stomach. It was disturbing."
Silver further said an league probe into the player's actions in spring 2023, when there was "unusual wagering" in a game he played for the Hornets against the New Orleans Pelicans, found nothing untoward.
"It was brought to our attention by the regulators and the gambling firms," he continued.
"We then looked into the matter and were very transparent about it. Although there was that aberrational betting, we, frankly, found no evidence.
"The federal government has legal authority... [it] can threaten to put people in jail, can take various actions that the NBA can't do.
"Therefore, we've been cooperating from that point. And, of course, what they announced recently was an indictment.
"Moreover 30 months after, he still hasn't been convicted of any offense, in fairness to Terry.
"Clearly, it doesn't look good, but he's been suspended, and so it is a balance here between protecting people's rights and conducting an inquiry."
In other games, Lakers player Doncic recorded over forty scores for the second game straight to start the season.
Following scoring 43 points in a first defeat to the Golden State, the Slovenian achieved 49 scores - along with 11 rebounds and eight passes - as the Lakers beat the Timberwolves 128-110.
Greek forward Giannis Antetokounmpo also had a big night with thirty-one scores, 20 rebounds and 7 passes in the Bucks' 122 to 116 victory at the Toronto Raptors.
Houston Rockets were defeated 115-111 by the Detroit Pistons even with 37 points from Kevin Durant, while Wembanyama had twenty-nine scores, 11 boards and nine rejections in the Spurs' overtime win over the New Orleans.
