The loved ones of teenagers unaccounted for after a devastating blaze at a venue in a Switzerland's ski resort are facing an agonising wait for answers and appealing for information about their family members publicly.

The blaze devastated the Le Constellation bar in the alpine resort, located in the mountains of south-west Switzerland, in the early hours of the first day of the year. Circulated footage reveal the roof structure being engulfed in flames as bottles with sparklers are raised in celebration.

Officials have stated that it could take considerable time to formally name the victims of the fire, which killed 40 people and hurt another scores more. Officials said on Friday that the majority of the those hurt have been accounted for, with efforts continuing to name the remaining few.
